Digi-doc Workshop : Collaboration between Chemistry Education Program, UNY with Birmingham City University (BCU)

On March 5th, 2024, the Department of Chemistry Education, FMIPA, Yogyakarta State University received a visit from international colleagues in the context of research collaboration through the Digi-Doc Project. Prof. Dr. Antuni Wiyarsi, M. Sc. as Head of UNY's Chemistry Education Study Program received 9 guests from Birmingham City University (BCU), London South Bank University (LSBU), Northeast Normal University China, Vietnam National University (VNU), Nguyen Tat Thanh University NTTU Vietnam, and HCMC University of Education Vietnamese. The Digi-Doc Project discussion in Indonesia will last for three days until Thursday, March 7th, 2024.

The Digital Doctor Training Hub (Digi-Doc) Project is a non-degree partnership program between the UK, Vietnam, China, and Indonesia that aims to prepare and train academics in the education sector to strengthen their research and scientific publication capabilities at the international level. According to Dr. Jane O'Connor, Deputy Director of the Center for the Study of Research and Practice in Education (CSPACE) BCU, this program facilitates education professionals by providing the possibility of joint research and discussing research ideas with experts in the field of education from the UK. This online supervision training program is funded by the British Council with Birmingham City University as the program lead.

It is hoped that the Digi-Doc Project will become the embryo of an international community consisting of doctoral students and supervisors who have a shared commitment to educational research that is applicable and reachable. By using the EdD program as the basis for its development, the Digi-Doc program will later develop into a doctoral education program with a duration of 4-6 years and an EdD-I title. The course design in years 1 and 2 uses 4 learning modules, followed in years 3 and 4 through a study of 50,000 theses which focus on emerging educational challenges and solutions that can be directly applied by students. EdD-I graduates are expected to have the ability to be responsive to education problems in Vietnam, China, and Indonesia and design solutions that can be implemented collaboratively between partners.
