The National Chemistry Fair (NaCF) is an annual event organized by the UNY Chemistry Student Association. This activity consists of two main events, namely the national seminar and the Chemistry Competition, CeC. One of the branches of competition contested by high school/MA students at the national level is the Chemistry Competition. The aim of carrying out this activity is to accommodate interest in honing the skills of SMA/SMK/MA equivalent students in understanding chemistry concepts.

This Chemistry Competition activity was carried out in a hybrid manner, where the preliminary rounds were held online while the semifinal and final rounds were carried out offline on the FMIPA UNY campus. Public enthusiasm can be seen from the number of participants who took part in the first round of selection on February 11th, 2024. A total of 455 participants from 15 regions in Indonesia starting from Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, Jakarta, Bandung, Bogor, Purwokerto, Makassar, Surabaya, Malang, Bali, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Samarinda, and Jayapura took part in the regional round selection which was carried out online using the exam platform determined by the committee. The results of the first round of selection obtained 60 participants who will compete in the semifinal round. They consist of the two best participants from each region plus 30 participants with top national rankings.

The selection process for the semifinal round will be carried out on February 24 2024 with an offline written test system. Participants are asked to work on multiple-choice questions and essays on chemistry materials. A total of ten participants with the highest scores will advance to the final round which will be held on the same day. The final round of selection is divided into two activities, namely the practicum round and LCC (Question Competition) which are carried out sequentially. The ten best selected from the semifinal round took part in the assessment in the practical round and then the top five were selected who will compete again in the grand final round through a Quiz Competition to compete for the champion position.

5th Winner : Gustav Ian S. (SMAK Plus Penabur Cirebon)
