UNY CHEMISTRY EDUCATION DEPARTMENT LECTURER BECOMES FACILITATOR AT PPKO HIMA KIMIA

The Ormawa Capacity Strengthening Program or PPKO Hima Kimia, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Yogyakarta State University carried out training on processing domestic organic waste into liquid organic fertilizer using a stacked bucket system in Joho Village, Prambanan, Klaten, Central Java. This activity is a form of activity organized by students of the Ormawa Hima Kimia FMIPA UNY PPK TEAM with the Kampung Smart Farming scheme. This activity was attended by KWT or the Women's Farmers Group in Joho Village. The training was held on Sunday, September 10 2023 at one of the KWT members' homes.

The resource person for this activity was Mrs. Dra. Regina Tutik Padmaningrum, M.Si, who is a chemistry lecturer at FMIPA UNY and is competent in processing organic waste. The choice of this topic is based on the fact that household organic waste is usually just thrown away, even though if we look deeper organic waste can be used to be processed into various useful products, one of which is in the agricultural sector, namely it can be made into liquid fertilizer. In this training, Mrs. Regina said that liquid organic fertilizer has benefits, including encouraging and increasing the formation of leaf chlorophyll and the formation of root nodules in legume plants, thus increasing the photosynthetic ability of plants and absorbing nitrogen from the air, increasing plant vigor so that plants become sturdy and strong. , increases plant resistance to drought, weather stress, and attacks by disease-causing pathogens, stimulates the growth of production branches, increases the formation of flowers and fruit ovaries, reduces the fall of leaves, flowers and fruit ovaries
