Socialization and Initiation of Educational Practices Collaboration: Chemistry Education Stdy Program and Senior High School

The Educational Practices (PK) that will be implemented this year are different from previous years. Supporting the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), PK will be carried out for 1 semester integrated with the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program. Therefore, the Chemistry Education Study Program invited 38 Principals from Senior High Schools in the "Socialization and Initiation of Educational Practical Cooperation" on Friday, May 28, 2021 through the Zoom Meeting.

Socialization was accompanied by the Head of the Department of Chemistry Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNY, Dr. Retno Arianingrum, Secretary of the Department of Erfan Priyambodo, M.Sc., Coordinator of the Chemistry Education Study Program, Dr. Antuni Wiyarsi, M.Sc., and the Coordinator of Educational Practices for the Chemistry Education Study Program Drs. Heru Pratomo, M.Si. The socialization activity was opened by Dr. Retno Arianingrum, and continued with the explanation about the implementation of PK by Dr. Antuni Wiyarsi. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic requires PK students to remain in their home environment, therefore they can decide for themselves which schools for PK locations. The schools that can participate in the socialization activities include SHS 2 Bantul, SHS 1 Banguntapan, SHS 1 Dlingo, SHS 1 Sewon, SHS 1 Bantul, SHS 1 Pakem, SHS 10 Yogyakarta, SHS 1 Kalibawang, SHS 6 Yogyakarta, SHS 2 Banguntapan, SHS Islam Al Azhar 9 Yogyakarta, SHS 7 Purworejo, SHS 3 Singkawang, SHS 2 Ngaglik, and SHS 1 Kebumen.

Activities that must be carried out by students during PK include 1) observations and identifying problems at the PK location; 2) compiling a PK work program with work programs such as: a) observing the state of the school, whether learning in class, outside the classroom, school work programs then identifying problems at the PK location, b) observing chemistry learning related to how teachers carry out learning activities, c ) compiling learning plans for teaching practice, d) developing learning innovations or other educational components, e) coaching extracurricular and / or intracurricular activities, f) school administration activities, g) providing training for teachers or employees with speakers from UNY or others; 3) carry out PK work program guidance; 4) implementing PK work programs and 5) reporting the results of PK work program activities.

Meanwhile, through this PK activity, schools get new ideas and receive positive impacts from efforts to improve the quality of chemistry learning carried out by students through PK activities. The value received by students is obtained from the assessment of the tutor at the school on the performance and ethics of students while implementing PK. With the implementation of this outreach activity, a follow-up was carried out in the form of signing a Memorandum of Agreement or a draft implementation of cooperation (Implementing Arrangement) between schools and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences / Chemistry Education Study Program, UNY.
